Dr Lucy Mitchell

I am an applied avian ecologist, and started as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hull in November 2019. Before this, I completed a PhD on the foraging ecology of breeding nightjars in South Yorkshire, and also worked for many years in the practical conservation sector.

I coordinate this research group, as well as the Motus telemetry project, aiming to emulate the extensive network created in Canada and the USA. My primary interests are collecting avian movement data (foraging, migration, dispersal) to understand how indivduals and populations are responding to change, both anthropogenic and natural.

I am a C permit holding bird ringer, an avid runner and a craft beer enthusiast, though of course I don't combine the three.
