Daniel Wade
I have been a PhD candidate at the University of Hull since 2018 and my project investigates the roles of wild birds in the transmission of avian influenza. My project has chapters focussing on sampling bias amongst wild birds for avian influenza and testing the assumptions of its transmission within wild bird populations. The main body of my work involves faecal sampling at migrations sites (working closely with Spurn Bird Observatory) and testing these samples for avian influenza.

Prior to my research at Hull, I completed an MSc at the University of East Anglia where my project worked with the Seychelles Warbler Research Group on Fregate Island investigating how translocations play a role in the spread of avian blood parasites. I have also performed 3 season as a field ornithologist with Operation Wallacea in Cusuco National Park, Honduras monitoring the resident birdlife. I am also a regular ringer and fieldworker with Kvismaren Fågelstation in Närke, Sweden.

I have been a bird ringer for over 10 years and have recently been awarded my A permit. I have a lifelong passion for birds and a particular fascination with migration ecology.
